I left Halifax on the afternoon of the 2nd and arrived in Sydney on the morning of the 4th. I believe there is a date line in there somewhere, plus about 30 hours of travel time (3 flights: Halifax-Toronto, Toronto-Vancouver, Vancouver-Sydney (same plane, but a 2 hour stopover in Vancouver).
Here is a shot of the inside of the plane at night, somewhere over the ocean.
Once I landed in Sydney, I took the regular city bus which brought me to Bondi Junction. From there I decided to walk, eventually found the hostel an hour later and slightly sunburnt. Very clean, 4 beds to a room for $35/night (cheaper once I get my hostelling membership). Spent the next couple days severely jet-lagged, sleeping lots, going to the beach, and enjoying "charcoal chicken" - basically rotisserie chicken, free-range and tasty. Once time it came with a lovely spinach/avocado/mandarin salad.
