A walk on the beach

On my last full day in Bondi (a suburb of Sydney, apparently), I decided to do the "coastal walk". I think I covered around 12-20 km, was totally exhausted afterward. A beautiful walk, lot of cliffs interspersed with beaches - a total of 4 beaches along the route. On the way back I took a shortcut through the suburbs - very nice try-lined little avenues.
Highlights:
A shot of Bondi Beach - yes it's huge. This was the start of the walk.
An idea of what the sandstone cliffs look like. This is a closeup to show the color. In some places these are quite high (I would guess 40-50 meters?).
This poor little fellow didn't appreciate the rain shower. It only lasted a bit, it was sunny again by the time I found him/her.
 And lastly, this awesome cactus!

There was also a huge old graveyard, no good shots of that. They had these little stone buildings called "family vaults" - with a door and everything, stone or marble or the like. Wicked cool

And an ocean swimming pool, so one can swim in the ocean but not have the waves:

After my walk I had to sleep for a couple hours to regain my strength, then went to play in the surf (not with a board, just like that). You can actually catch a wave and have it carry you in a ways. Not bad size waves either. I can't wait until surf lessons, but that'l be a little while yet. I want to explore the city some more and also the Blue Mountains and Jenolan caves, after that will be surfing time.
This was my last full day in Bondi - on Saturday I moved to the hostel in central Sydney. I'm now in the city proper, all high-rises and big-city bustle. The subway trains are double-deckers with lots of seating, not set up for standing travel like the subways in Toronto. I think the trains actually go quite a ways out of the city...
I used the free ticket a fellow traveler laid on me to visit Wildlife World to go see some kangaroos and snakes and such - not really a zoo but a taste of one for the tourists. Neat but would not have been worth the $20 entrance fee My legs hurt - sooooo much walking!
Tomorrow - who knows. The forecast says rain for the next week.
